EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

Reflect on how your personal learning network has changed and grown during the course of this workshop. Discuss your plans for how you plan to continue to grow your learning network and how you hope to contribute to the professional learning of your administrative colleagues.

 

Throughout this course, my PLN has grown and changed immensely. I have learned about and explored many different networking tools such as, twitter, blogger, audioboo and more. I look forward to incorporating these tools in my classroom this upcoming school year.

Through on-going professional development, I look forward to growing my learning network.

This upcoming school year, I plan to introduce my kindergarteners and parents to the kindergarten blog I have created for this course. I intend on using the blog to communicate with parents, teachers and community stakeholders. My hope is that by using the blog, others will feel a sense of community and stay informed on upcoming events that take place within our classroom and our school. My desire for this blog is to open up the avenue of communication with my students and parents.

It is also a desire of mine to share the knowledge I have gained from this elearning course with my colleagues. I believe that by enabling all educators to feel a sense of achievement and community, our level of communication will be enhanced.

 

PROBLEM STATEMENT:

State the challenges identified, the rationale/need to address these challenges and the conditions to be changed by the project

One identified challenge time. There are so many requirements placed upon our teachers, being that we are a small school. Finding time to train and implement new tools will be a challenge. One that we will find a way to overcome.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES:

The objectives should describe the intended outcome of the project and should be SMART (Simple, Measurable, Accurate, Realistic and Time Bound)

Indicate how the objectives will contribute to the achievement of the project, what difference the project will make and the time frame during which this will happen.

• Teachers will be trained on the use of web 2.0 tools.
• Teachers will implement the use of a tool that they feel most confident in using.
• Parents/Stakeholders will be trained on the use of web 2.0 tools and their role in using them.
• Achievement of this project will be gained by teachers and parents working together in exploring, learning and implementing these tools
• Timeline – 2014-2015 school year

PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION AND MANAGEMENT PLAN:

Describe the project activities indicating how the objectives will be accomplished, what will be done, who will do it, who are the implementers, partners and beneficiaries and when it will be done. Describe how the project will be sustainable after the funding period.

This project will be introduced at our beginning of the year faculty meeting. Teachers will be trained. Parents will be introduced to the tools at our open house/PTO meeting. There will be continuous trainings throughout the school year at regular PTO meetings. Beneficiaries/partners will be teachers, parents, students and our community. This project will not require funding, just time.

PROJECT MONITORING AND EVALUATION:

Describe how you are going to monitor and evaluate the project so as to assess progress during implementation and improve the project efficiency as the project moves along.

Our teachers will decide upon a tool that best suits their teaching style and comfort zone, create their network by sharing with students and parents, and continue the use throughout the school year. We will analyze the effectiveness through  teacher/parent/student survey.

DOCUMENTATION AND SHARING RESULTS :

Describe how you are going to document the progress of your project during and after implementation. State how you will document and share your results and let others know of your purpose, methods and achievements.

We will complete a survey before, during and after implementation.

II. Goals  (Session Three)
Describe your personal goals for Web 2.0 use at your school, including why you want to investigate and implement the use of Web 2.0:   My personal goals for Web 2.0 use at my school consist of incorporating Google docs into our daily use. I plan to share information such as lesson plans and data through this communication tool. Google Docs will allow for better time management. Our teachers will be able to send information by using this tool.

Reflect on the use of Google Docs. Was it easy for you to set up and share your work or were there challenges?  If there were challenges, what was difficult?  How will you share the process of using Google Docs with your teachers or other staff?  How might you use this to help your staff or other administrators to collaborate?    Google Docs is a very simple tool to setup and use. I look forward to using this tool among my peers/staff. I plan to use this tool to communicate among grade level teachers.
IV. Planning your Podcast  (Session Four)
List some notes to help you with your podcast. Keep your initial podcast short: about 3 minutes or less.  Later you may decide to provide longer podcasts when the topic warrants it.  Keep the podcast focused on one key idea if possible.  Decide whether to use your podcast to make an announcement or to talk about educational topics more generally.  This list may help guide your planning:   Audience (teachers, students, parent, other?): Students and parents   Topic for your podcast: Introduction to Kindergarten   Key point or main idea: Welcoming students to kindergarten   Details about the topic/subpoints you will make: I will share important information with parents and students concerning our kindergarten year.     Note: If you like, you can write out a script and read it for the podcast.

IV.  AUP  (Session Five)
1.  Review your current AUP. What gaps, if any, do you see in the coverage of important areas such as social networking tools and Internet safety?   My district’s AUP covers cyberbullying and using proper “netiquette” at school. 2. How will you prepare other administrators, teachers and staff to follow the school or district AUP and to address Internet safety issues with students?   I will prepare our administrators and teachers to follow our districts AUP to address Internet safety issues with students by presenting to them in our beginning of the year faculty meeting. I will use a powerpoint presentation featuring video clips from netzsmart. Teachers will collaborate on different ways enhance our awareness of internet safety among our faculty and students.
Part V. Implementation  (Session Six)
Choose one the tools you've learned about in this workshop and explain how you plan to integrate this tool into your work to enhance your ability to effectively lead your school community.  You may decide to maintain a blog or a recurring podcast.  Or you might create a collaborative task using Google Docs and invite teachers or staff to assist in preparing an authentic document, such as a report or a section of the school improvement plan.  Write a brief description of your implementation plans here.    I plan to continue the use of the kindergarten blog I created for this course. I will blog and upload podcasts throughout the school year to keep my parents and students informed of upcoming events, skills we are learning and ways they may become more involved. I will share the blog link with parents, at the beginning of the school year, by giving each parent a magnet with my contact information. This has been useful in the past. Parents may stick the information directly to their fridge or file cabinet to have for use at any time.
Plan ways to incorporate what you have learned in this workshop into your daily work and ways to help others at your school or district to use these or other Web 2.0 tools.   I plan to share the information with my faculty at the beginning of the year faculty meeting. I will also use tools, such as google docs, to communicate with grade level teachers. I would like to see our faculty, community, students, and parents communicate through a blog. The blog would create a venue of communication among all.
Part VI.  Evaluation  (Session Six)
For later reflection: Is your Action Plan working? Are you using one of the Web 2.0 tools on a fairly regular basis? What are you doing well? What should you do differently?     I look forward to further answering this question. I am excited to incorporate the use of my blog at grade level and school level.

Summer days are dwindling away, quickly. Soon, we will be back into our daily grind. Over the next few weeks, I'd like to  challenge each of you to rest, relax and READ! I look forward to beginning our kindergarten days together.
